March Bible Study Week 1

An Inviation to Come and See

SCRIPTURE

JOHN 1:43–51

BACKGROUND & CONTEXT

John the Baptist was the forerunner of the Gospel message. He was tasked with the honor of introducing the Messiah to God’s chosen people, Israel. His message was one of repentance and getting ready for the arrival of the Christ. John’s God-given authority drew people from all over to hear him speak about the coming Christ. When Jesus arrived, John quickly pointed to Jesus and said, “There he is, the one I’ve been telling you about, the Lamb of God.” As John and Andrew did before, Philip invited Nathanael to come and see the Messiah for himself.
