Facing Fears & Fireside Faith: Day One with the Girls of WAR

Day one was packed with courage, connection, and a whole lot of fun as the girls kicked off their first full day at WAR.

We began the morning with the swim test—a chance for the girls to challenge themselves, support one another, and gain confidence in the water. They cheered each other on with such encouragement that it felt more like a team celebration than a test!

Later in the day, we took on the rock wall, and wow—what a moment. For some, it was their first time climbing. For others, it was a face-your-fears kind of challenge. Whether they made it to the top or not, every girl walked away with a sense of accomplishment and pride. It wasn’t just about reaching the top—it was about trying, trusting, and realizing they’re capable of more than they thought.

As the sun began to set, we gathered around the campfire for our first fireside devo—complete with laughter, stories, and of course, s’mores. We reflected on God’s presence in our lives and what it means to be seen, known, and loved by Him. The mix of marshmallows and meaningful conversation made for the perfect ending to a powerful day.

The girls are off to a strong start. We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings! Keep praying for continued connection, growth, and courage as we continue this journey together.
