Putting Others First

As we prepare ourselves for the rock wall and the ropes course, we read through some scripture this morning which encourages us to be united and caring. We talked about putting other peoples’ interests first in life just as Jesus did.  So after much feared trail pack unpacking we head in to get trained for the wall. at the sight of the wall our group of seven turned quickly into a group of three or four. we heard a lot of “im just not going to do it” coming from the boys. this is not just for fun but for challenging them to expand their comfort zones and try new things that will build discipline and prove that they can do more than they think they can. And what do you know… all but one got up on that wall, and another six boys got up on the ropes course.  these guys are capable of a lot more than they think. they were even tethered together at one point and could only take steps higher when the other person told them where to stand. the leadership and listening was awesome! Parents, these boys need to be told how much potential they have and must be encouraged on a regular basis if your desire is for them to change and succeed. Lastly, we had to find puzzle pieces up in the ropes course and put them togther when we were done. It was a scripture that reads “for God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline”. They learned a lot about these things this week and we are so proud of them and can’t wait to see where they go from here.

Sorry, I have not been in a location where I could comment on the blog. Well, you are done now – most likely home getting some rest. I continue to pray for you daily. I pray today that as you find physical rest that you also remain rested in God’s loving arms now and forever!
