campfire day one

by | Aug 12, 2013 | Uncategorized | 5 comments

As we sit to reflect with the boys tonight we talk about what worked and what didn’t work today. The boys talked about missing home and feeling very tired.

We talked about goals for tomorrow and throughout the week. The boys could use many prayers on patience, listening, honesty, and feeling safe to open up.
We have had a trying first day with tired and uncomfortable boys who are being pushed out of their comfort zones but we continue to see glimmers of hope for their growth.
Silence has now overtaken the woods, goodnight from the Ranch.

It’s a new day and a new challenge. I encourage all the campers to look at each new day as an opportunity grow in your relationships and to serve others. All of you have gifts and talents that have been given to you and my hope is that you will feel called to use your gifts to bless others and in doing so be blessed yourselves.

I am sure many of you young men are missing home. I encourage you to open up and invest your time and energy into the work that is being done at this camp. Connect with your camp counselors and allow them the opportunity to get to know you.

Finally, I want to give a shout out to AR and TA from Wyoming Junior High. We are proud of you and we are excited to see you when you get back to school in September.Ms. Davis, Mrs. Brower, Mrs. Vandtentoorn, Mrs. Holt, Mr. Blackburn, and Mr. Varnesdeel told me to say hello from all of them. Work Hard guys and have fun!

We are continuing to pray for CA and everyone with special prayer for patience, listening, and honesty. Praying that the lord helps guide CA to an open mind and open heart and comforts him in his times of need. We also pray for CA’s family, that they may feel the strength that GOD will give CA and that they will be open to changes to support him as he grows in GOD.

    KC,
I can only imagine how tired you must feel and that you might have had to get up early this morning!
I am already very proud of you and your courage. You are not alone- I will be praying for you, your mom and your family all day and every day!

I’m praying for all the boys right now that the Holy Spirit would work on their hearts that they may be open to changing and becoming young, Godly men through the ministry of this camp. Philippians 4:5-7
